Formed over millions of years, the Murchison River carves its way to the sea, through a magnificent red and white banded gorge. The park is subjected to extreme heat during the summer and very occasionally the river can flood. It takes up to 4 days to negotiate the 38km section of gorge that is normally walked.

Photographs from one visit.

In September 2007 we spent four days walking the Kalbarri Gorge, the first walk of this type that I have ever undertaken.
