The English Lake District is in the North West of the country, entirely in the county of Cumbria. It contains some of England's best Mountains and Lakes. The physical landscape today mainly reflects the results of the last Ice Age. The area has long been popular with tourists and will forever be associated with the Poet William Wordsworth.

Photographs from seven visits.

In May 2005 I completed a three day backpacking trip around the Western Fells, starting from Keswick.
In December 2004 we carried out a three day expedition from Coniston, in very poor weather.
In October 2004 we were based out of Langdale and went scrambling on The Pikes.
In December 2002 we stayed in Patterdale and had some good trips over the Christmas Week.
A photo from December 2000 we stayed in Borrowdale and got some fine walking in.
Another photo from August 2000, when we had tea on top of Great Gable.
Three scanned photos from December 1998, there was enough snow to turn the hills white.
