Nelson Lakes National Park is classic
tramping country. It contains Large rivers and beech forested valleys
separated by high mountain ranges. There is a good network of tracks,
bridges and huts.
Mount Richmond is a less visited area right on the doorstep of Nelson
city. Mostly below the bushline it offers more protection from the
weather than some other areas.
Photographs from two visits.
In June 2006 we tramped for a day in Mount Richmond
Forest Park to Richmond Saddle Hut.
In February 2006 this was my first tramp in New Zealand in 2006. I
spent eight days hiking the Travers, Sabine and D'Urville Valleys, crossing
two Alpine passes in the process. |
