The Isle of Skye has the most dramatic mountains in Scotland, in the form of the Black Cuillin. The summits of this range are generally difficult scrambles to reach, but one of them - The Inaccessible Pinnacle calls for true rock climbing skills. The complete traverse of this mountain range is unquestionably the finest and most difficult expedition of its type in Scotland, calling for good stamina, route finding and technical climbing skills, as well as a period of settled weather.

Photographs from one visit.

May 2004 was my third trip to Skye. The first two mainly consisted of holding the tent down to stop it blowing away and trying to stay dry. This time however, conditions were perfect. At some point I will return to the UK to attempt the continuous traverse of the ridge.
