There are a number of mountain groups in the Southern Highlands, including the most southerly Munro, Ben Lomond. The Arrochar Alps, the Crianlarich Group and Ben More. Due to the ease of access from the major Scottish cities some of these mountains are very popular and have suffered erosion from the number of people walking and climbing on them. Perhaps the finest mountains in this area are the Arrochar Alps which are more rocky and defined them the imMediate mountains surrounding them. To the west the traverse of Ben Cruachan starting from the Cruachan dam is one of Scotland's classic traverses.

Photographs from two visits.

We stayed in Glen Orchy over Christmas 2005, which saw fine weather throughout the week, allowing us to do some fantastic walking.
The March 2004 Trip was mainly based around the Arrochar Alps and we generally suffered poor weather throughout the week, culminating in being caught in a winter storm on Ben More.
