One of the major North American mountain ranges, The Cascade range extends all of the way from California as far North as Washington State and in to Southern Canada. The range has many active volcanoes, including Mount St Helens. As the range is so close to the coastline it experiences a Large amount of rain, and in winter heavy snowfall. The Pacific Crest trail runs through the Cascade Range providing a wilderness like experience, with scope for trips lasting from a couple of days to many months.

Photographs from one visit.

In July 2003 I spent two weeks in Washington State in America.
After visiting Seattle we headed out to The Cascades and spent a brilliant 10 days on The Pacific Crest Trail.
We finished the trip at Stehekin, which needs a four hour boat trip to get back to anywhere with a proper road.
