The South Welsh Mountains run from the Black Mountain in the West through Fforest Fawr, The Brecon Beacons and finally end in the Black Mountains in the East. The highest peaks and most spectacular walking are in the popular central area of the Brecon Beacons. However the other areas have there own attractions including famous waterfalls, caves, long undulating ridges and wild uninhabited moorland.

Photographs from five visits.

My mountain walking started in The Beacons in 1990 and it's still an area I return to regularly.

In December 2005 we walked in the Black Mountains and The Beacons in mixed weather conditions
In November 2005 we climbed Pen y Fan by night.
In May 2003 a Large group of us visited the Black Mountains for walking and mountain biking.
In March 2003 we walked in the Central Beacon's and visited the waterfall areas.
In October 2002 we completed a long traverse from Talybont to Pen y Fan and then spent a wet and windy Sunday on Black Mountain.
