A Year in Australia

During 2007 I lived in Perth, Western Australia. At the start of the year I had a month backpacking in Tasmania, then it was a settled year - working until mid September. After that I travelled the West Coast as far as Broome, before heading south on the Bibb track from Pemberton. We finished the year by visiting Singapore, India and Nepal, where we spent over two weeks on the Annapurna Circuit.

A Year in New Zealand

During 2006 I lived in New Zealand. From February to May I backpacked on the South Island. After that I worked in IT at Christchurch, over the winter months, still making short trips to the mountains. At the end of September I started backpacking again and after a month on North Island, I tramped extensively on South Island until mid December.

Glen Affric and Strathfarrar Backpack

This was a strenuous thirteen day expedition which began from Shiel Bridge, exploring Glen Affric, Loch Mullardoch, Glen Strathfarrar and the southern Achnashellach hills.

Scottish Winter Mountaineering
During Winter 2005 I went backpacking in the Grampians, before completing my Winter Mountain Leader Training around Glencoe.

Southern Alps, New Zealand
This was my first visit to New Zealand. I spent a three weeks backpacking my way around the South Island and one week on North Island.

The Wind River Range in the American Rockies
This was a two week expedition exploring the Wind River Range, including visiting Island Lake and climbing Freemont Peak, 13745'.

Newfoundland Canada, including Gros Morne
A three week trip with my  brother explorng this remote island, after starting from St Johns, we went over to the West Coast and Gros Morne National Park.

The Picos de Europa, Spain
My first trip to Spain, this backpacking trip covered all three regions of the Picos de Europa National Park.

Backpacking Fisherfield Forest
This was an extended backpacking trip through the Fannichs and on to Fisherfield Forest, before turning south towards Kinlochewe.

Knoydart Peninsula
A nine day round trip in one of the remotest parts of the Highlands, starting and finishing at Kinloch Hourn.

South West Ireland, the Iveragh Peninsula
A two week backpacking trip in South West Ireland, including Macgillcuddy's Reeks and the Dingle Peninsula.

The Cascades
The Pacific Crest Trail runs along the west coast mountains in the United States. We hiked a Small portion of this from Steven's Pass to Stehekin, in Washington State.

Scottish 4000ers Walk
Over seven days we linked all of the 4000 foot mountains in Scotland, starting from Aviemore and finishing at Fort William.
